Chefette Continues its support of The Vagrants & Homeless Society
Article posted March 5, 2013
The Barbados Vagrants & Homeless Society received a boost from Chefette Restaurants, as the largest restaurant chain in Barbados continued support to this charity which first begun in 2011 through a financial agreement in the form of a covenant.
Recently, Mr. Kemar Saffrey, Chairman of the society, received the donation and indicated that the money received, would go towards providing meals, a change of clothing, medical assistance where needed, as well as the referral to other programs such as Verdun House, the Psychiatric Hospital or C.A.S.A (Centre for counselling Addiction Support Alternatives).
Mr. Saffrey went on to say that “The Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society is targeting eleven (11) parishes in Barbados to create a census that would allow the charity to conduct a feasibility study of vagrants within every parish. In an effort to complete this task they would be visiting a few communities in the island twice a week starting from St. Lucy and filtering downwards through the remaining parishes, as vagrants are more prone to linger and reside in heavily populated and commercial areas.”
Adverting Manager of Chefette Restaurants, Lisa Carter said that “The Chefette Family values these opportunities to fulfil the Company’s corporate responsibility of giving back to the Barbadian communities. This is always fulfilling, especially in situations where those in need are the ones to benefit.”
