Guest Speaker Review Sadly more youth aged 16 years and older are homeless in this country than five years ago when the age of a homeless person was typically between 40-80 years. This was revealed by Kemar Saffrey Founder, President and Chairman of the Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society (BVHS) who delivered an informative and thought provoking address at our meeting Thursday July 25 2013. Kemar also revealed that the ratio of vagrant men to women is 95:5 while the ratio of homeless men to women is 30:70 and that homelessness and vagrancy generally resulted from job loss, eviction by family members and mental health issues.
